Great food. Moved here from Chicago, few great delis!

A great place for breakfast with portions that are too large for a normal human being to finish. I had a combination breakfast with waffle, eggs, bacon, potatoes, and a bagel. Everything was cooked perfect and was delicious (and I didn't need to eat for the rest of the day).

Do you like old people? Do you like the smell of adult diapers, gray hair, Preparation H and dentures? If so, you're in luck at Toojay's! So yes I know it's a Jewish deli in the state of Florida. I should expect old poeple. But I felt like I was in a nursing home when I went here. Not that there's anything wrong with that. I kind of felt hot for a few minutes while the old guys drooled at my boobs. That part was nice. All that aside, I like Toojay's. I would not go out of my way to go here, but I did eat here three times when I was home. What can I say? It's convenient to my mom's house. I wholeheartedly disagree with Dan B who said the baked goods are not so great. I think their baked goods are fantastic. The banana dream cake makes me jizz in my pants. The chocolate cake is amazing. And the rye bread makes me jizz in my pants multiple times. It's that good. Most of the good here is either a. sandwiches or b. comfort food. The deli meats are super high quality. The shepard's pie is delicious. I wouldn't take a date here, but it's perfect for families or something super casual.

They have overall decent food but it is definitely nothing special. Jason's Deli for instance has better sandwiches. The positive aspect of TooJays is that you're not just limited to deli food, you can get entrees and breakfast as well. The breakfast is probably the only good food. The desserts are definitely not good. There were so many delicious sounding desserts so I tried the tollhouse squares which had no taste, then another time I had the carrot cake which was stale and didn't taste like much, then I had the black and white cookies and they weren't good. The corned beef and pastrami sandwich is way too small for the price. The service is also pretty subpar. They often have attitudes and are rarely helpful. It's overall a rip-off. You can get much better deli food other places.

We are fans of Toojay's when we're in the burbs of Orlando. It's a typical Jewish deli with the typical foods. Though we've only been there four times, we've not had a single complaint about the food or service. The wait staff are fast and friendly, the food is good and plentiful and we've never had to wait more than 10 minutes to be seated. IMO, "gourmet" would be a big stretch but, if I were Jewish, I think this food is what my Mother would make for me.

We are regulars at TooJays in Altamonte for the past several years, and have rarely had anything but excellent visits. Breakfast is an excellent value and always served hot and quick. Lunch sandwiches are delicious and always contain an abundance of meat on fresh buns or bread. Our favorite server is Shannon however all of the servers do a great job.

This is one of my favorite Deli's in the area. They have excellent breads, deserts, cheeses and meats you can buy and take out. My wife and me go there fairly often and I have never been disappointed with the quality of their food or service. I highly recommend it.

From the waiting time till we left the place was terrible... We waited about 20 minutes to be seated, plus another 10 minutes for a server take out order and so on.... The food was good but not worth all the hassle...

Besides the fact that this was the only open restaurant on Christmas Day (being a Jewish deli probably have something to do with that), my Mom and I had a great meal. I had to start with the matzo ball soup, which was delicious! The cup was a tad small, so I suggest going with a bowl. Still small enough for a starter to your meal. I decided on a scoop of chicken salad and a scoop of egg salad on a bed of greens and veggies for my entree. I was in the mood for something simple and fresh and I made the right choice. Their chicken salad had dill in it, which I love. They also have a traditional chicken salad, but I would go with their dill option. Very tasty. Scoops came on top pf a bed of greens with carrot, cucumber, celery slices and some onions. It was the perfect size and flavors I wanted. My mother went with the brisket entree and also liked it a lot. It was plenty of food for dinner and for lunch the next day. Lastly...the banana dream cake is fabulous! Make sure to grab a slice when you're here.

I will not be returning to TooJay's. The server had an attitude that was not welcoming. We asked for some healthy options and she replied "well you're in the wrong place" while laughing. I was tempted to get up and leave at that moment. Rather than offering help with the options, she said "oh, it's your first time? You'll need some time [to look at the menu] then" and left. After we decided on our order, I was told that the restaurant was "out of" a key ingredient of my dish. I said that I'd have to start looking again then to which the server replied "oooooooookay..." as if I should have a back-up plan immediately available. My wife and I finally decided on a Turkey Reuben and the Greek Wrap. Neither was spectacular. Considering the service, the price and the lackluster food, I will not be returning to TooJay's.

Too Jay's is a go-to breakfast/lunch spot. Even when we visit for breakfast, I'm sometimes so tempted by their yummy lunch offerings that I skip right past the traditional first meal. They offer very generous portions, and the food is always good quality -- just like mom making you a meal with care. This past visit I realized that they have a gluten free menu available upon request. Some of the items are intuitive (order the burger without the bun...duh), but there were a few items that weren't on the regular menu (chicken soup, etc). No gluten-free bread, but a girl can dream that one day they'll offer gluten-free sourdough! I'm a sucker for presentation, and the to-go counter always calls my name as I'm arriving and leaving. Even though my belly can't have any, my eyes devour the Banana Dream Cake, Carrot Cake, Chocolate Cake and Cheesecake...all have three layers of deliciousness!! They also fill catering orders, and this past visit I noticed a sign that they're now offering take and bake bread dough.

A fun place to come for lunch, but nothing too fantastic. The menu can be overwhelming, but it's a good place to grab a sandwich and sit for a bit with a friend. Grab a couple of the black and white cookies on your way out, they are fab!

My son and I went to Toojay's Sat. for lunch, it's usually always good! Sometimes the service can be a little slow, however it was point on Sat. Had the Egg Salad wrap with Slaw and Fries, one of my favorite lunch items there. My son had the kids cheeseburger with fries and he left no crumbs! They also have great pastries and cakes if you ever need a cake for a special occassion, never a disappointment! If you are going for breakfast, try a omelet, really yummy!!

A great Jewish restaurant and deli. I had a Reuben sandwich and it was piled high with corned beef, grilled to my liking with just the right amount of dressing. My favorite item on their menu is the rugelach. They offer almond, chocolate, cinnamon, apricot, cinnamon raisin and raspberry. So good!

The food here was Ok nothing special really in the prices were a little steep I would give this place another chance just to try their salads I wish they were cheaper

Closest thing to NYC you will get here in Orlando. As a native of Florida I know there is better, but I love Too Jays. Recommend the shrimp salad and matzoh ball soup. Like that the half sandwich and soup deal. Wan to like the whitefish salad more. It is the real deal and good, but just isn't the best I have ever had. The service is great and friendly. Expect to wait in line for lunch on most days. But it moves quickly.

I have been going to Toojay's ever since they opened in the Orlando area. It is a great place to go by yourself or a large group. From this location I have had takeout two times. The first time I ordered Nova on an everything bagel with cream cheese, lettuce greens, tomato and capers. It was excellent, it even came with a side of fruit. Good meal that day. On my next visit I ordered a Triple J, to go, on rye. A Triple J is corned beef, roast beef and turkey all rolled up in Toojay's signature style with cole slaw in the middle. You just might have to dislocate you jaw to be able to open up your mouth big enough to take a bite out of this one. I have never been disappointed with anything I have ever ordered from a Toojay's. Their Rueben sandwich is the standard which I use to compare all other Rueben's. Salads are plentiful and always fresh. I could go on and on about how good their food us. Someone once told me that, "there is no other place like Toojay's." Deserts...awesome!!!

I really like Toojay's, been to the Lake Mary location several times and have always had a good experience. Not so much at this location. Arrived at 12:30pm on a Sunday, I expected it to be busy. But we waited until 1:40pm to be seated because we needed high chairs and they have very limited seating. I watched large group after large group being seated but because of the need for high chairs we had to wait. After being seated finally with starving young kids. We didn't receive our food until 2:20pm. It was after 3 before we got out. 3 hours at this place on a Sunday is not my idea of a smooth working machine. They comped us free desserts for our trouble. Won't be going back to this location.

Always a good meal. Perfect comfort food and the staff is great. Our server Tasha was very weet, attentive and added to our experience. We will definitely be back!

The food was really good, and they have a pretty extensive menu. We came on a Sunday though and service was pretty terrible... We waited awhile and our waitress would come and leave and wouldn't come back, didn't really explain the questions I had asked her, I did overhear from someone else that the managers left them here alone though which is the managers fault, she still could have had a better attitude though. They have everything to go so if I eat here again I'm just going to order it and take it due to lack of service.

Toojay's is great and conveniently located. The menu has a nice selection; the prices are reasonable; and the ambiance is pleasant. The bakery items are especially delectable. Everything tastes very fresh and well-prepared. There is both indoor and outdoor seating, though the view leaves much to be desired. This is a particularly nice place to grab breakfast or lunch.

  • Kim W.

Always a great place to grab a cheap and plentiful breakfast or an overstuffed deli sandwich. The turkey Reuben is the best and the fries are always perfect. I have never had a bad meal at Too Jays. The only thing I have been disappointed in was their latkes.

I was introduced to Toojay's through the "Killer Cake" which technically isn't a cake at all, it's more like pure chocolate opium. You cut in to it and find a layer of Oreo/cookie/crumb/crust, brownie on the bottom, then a layer of truffle, then a soft creamy layer of chocolate, then a layer of chocolate ganache.... [chocolate coma].. So after you get past the deserts, TooJay's has a great list of items for brunch, lunch or dinner. You can get all the favorites, from soups, chowder, sandwiches, hamburgers, dell treats, salads, and much more. If you are from places like New York or Chicago, you might understand this better, but they are a full service deli. My favorite is their beef dip sandwich with matzo ball soup. Then a take home order of either the Killer Cake or their black and white cookies. Not to forget mentioning an order of their fresh cut roast beef, turkey breast or ham for deli sandwiches. They also cater and can supply lunches for your work if you have a function taking place, such as a business meeting. Overall? I believe it is a great place to eat.

I wanted a quick snack so I stopped here for a bit of the shrimp salad and four cinnamon Rugalach. Little did I realize (okay I didn't really look at the price on the menu either) that the 0475 lb of the shrimp salad would be nearly $8. The four Rugalach were $2.21, they go per pound. Sadly, the salad was absolutely nothing to call home about. It had nicely chilled shrimp, itty pieces of celery but no real nor delicious flavoring. The blandness of it was simply Meh. The Rugalach were good and you could sense the butter and cinnamon in each bite.

Ordered take out from Toojays the other day. Have enjoyed dining in a few times, first time getting my deli on to go though . I had a "Buy One get One Half-Off"coupon in the mail, usually these kinda deals are for dine-in only. Toojay's said no problem, we can use that on a take-out order easy. Got their famous Rueben (stacked high with delicious meat, Russian dressing and sauerkraut) and a Teriyaki chicken sandwich (massive, juicy chicken breast lightly marinated and gobbed with melted cheese, sauteed mushrooms and crispy bacon). They told me 20 minutes, showed up right on the nose and the gal behind the counter was ready and waiting with my order. When I got home everything was spit spot. Food was still nice and warm, the fries weren't soggy (*BONUS* As far as I'm concerned, that's Public Enemy #1 when it comes to takeout) lotsa napkins, utensils and assorted condiments all packed in. Everything was good from the top down, kudos on an order well spun!

It isn't always easy to find a variety of vegetarian options but TooJay's Deli has a huge menu and lots of options. My favorite is the Vegetarian Rueben. It is delicious! It may not be a super healthy, low fat option but some time's even us vegetarians want to indulge. It has sauteed vegetables with the other non meat ingredients of a Rueben on delicious, grilled ciabatta bread. Yum!

I wonder if TooJay's hasn't diluted its "core competency"? It used to be a great place. Now it is just mediocre; when I think of going there, It doesn't seem worth the effort. The place used to be a New York deli. Now they have added so many "fancy" items to the menu that the focus is getting lost. Walking in by the deli case gives an impression that one-third of the menu does not fulfill. And what used to be delicious specialties have become rather flat-tasting, as though the company doesn't care. This is not the same real New York City deli transposed to Florida that it used to be.

Good TooJay's location. Busy location for both take out and dine in. Call in orders I've made have always been ready as promised and correct. Bakery counter is full, usually end up grabbing something additional, all yummy. Service is good and the items I've ordered have been cooked as prepared and requested. YUM. Service was friendly and appropriately timed. Like the new menu, more options for non meat eaters and fish eaters, which is esp. nice for a meaty deli. :)

Great food, but the waitstaff is weird. How weird? One waitress argues every time we say no coleslaw, then brings it regardless. This has happened several times. Does she make the slaw herself? Is she offended that some people don't like it? She argues that it's good, we should try it, but I'm not into the texture or taste. Does she do this with everyone? Edit: I should add that the food is all very good, and that the waitstaff is really nice! Just...this one waitress was REALLY into coleslaw?

This place has some good food and allot to choose from but the staff is not all that friendly bu the quickness of receiving your food is good and u don't have to barely ever wait to be seated.

Always busy, too busy: Toojays always seems to be super busy and the staff frantic. We waited 20 minutes to be seated (even though there were empty seats the whole time). The restaurant is crowded and noisy. Although the food we got was tasty, the order came out incorrect. It took so long to get our food that I didn't want to risk sending it back. One thing I must say, the black and white cookies are amazing. Get some to go and put them in the fridge before eating them.

The best deli I have been to in 6 1/2 years after leaving NY! Food is Five stars, service is 3, a little pricey for Fl, but overall very good. Large portions of excellent quality, Kosher style food, and Even though I am a gentile I do not think it is kosher klock kosher food. Best smoked whitefish I ever had (better than Katz or Carnegie in NY). Can't wait till they come to JAX next year.

Great, quick service on a Sunday evening. It was my first time dining at a TooJay's and the manager sent our table over three lovely pieces of the delicious desserts on the house. The food was great and the service was outstanding!

TooJay's is a growing Florida chain of deli restaurants. They feature a take-out deli which includes typical deli fare (corned beef, pastrami, chopped liver, lox) as well as tasty-looking baked goods. In addition, there is a seating area where they serve deli food as well as breakfast (til 11am) and diner fare. The atmosphere at this location is nothing special, but the food really shines. Their sandwiches are incredible, featuring an impressively large spiral of meat served on thick-sliced rye bread (made in-house). The sides and fries are excellent, as is the breakfast. I have to mention, they had the best cup of coffee I've tasted in a restaurant in quite a while--I hope it wasn't just a good day, because that alone gives me reason to come back. Prices are moderate, food is great. Check it out.

Another great Turkey sandwich (with awesome Steak Fries) and a HUGE menu. They have all the Jewish deli favorites you would expect, plus an amazing array of desserts - cakes, cookies, rugelach, and muffins. You can come in for Breakfast, Lunch, or Dinner and expect to get an amazing meal. Huge array of sandwiches and salads, as well as traditional entrees. The atmosphere is a little... outdated. It has the feel of a 1940s New York Deli without any of the New York. The clientele is mostly older. However, none of that should stop you from coming in to Toojay's. Absolutely amazing food cooked correctly the first time.

My rating is based on today...I have had 4-5* food and service there but lately it's gone down hill. I do love the food there, it's the primary reason for going. But today, right before the lunch rush, we got: Overdone potato pancakes Overdone french fries Extremely dry buns (on a kids burger and adult) Funky tasting coleslaw The service was excellent, it usually is. But the food it hit and miss lately. If you can't be consistent, it's not worth frequenting, in my opinion. Sad, it was really consistently good food just a year ago.
